YIKES. I haven’t updated since last year. Well, technically I did this year. But that last post wasn’t me. (SAM!) I guess I should update my followers. Especially Chrissy. Homegirl loves creepin’ around my blog.

Anyways, let’s update before this month ends!
Happy 2012, everyone!
So, what’s new?

Family

Having my Lola Betty officially living in CA is awesome.  I seriously enjoy conversing with her. Her cooking is bomb, too. MM.
My sister turned 18! D: Dang, still too weird.
I’ve been hanging around my family more in general. D’aw, bonding.
And when I say family, that also includes my bestfriends/cousins. Seriously, I feel like I’ve been seeing the two of them more often than usual. I love it.

School

‘Tis the Pediatric and Maternal Health semester! :D The semester that I’ve been looking forward to since the start of the program. Oh my, praise the Lord for a great schedule and the greatest facility for clinicals! Guess where?! CHOC & St. Joseph’s! AHHHHHH. I’M EXCITED. Ooo, you have no idea. If you ask me in person, I’ll tell you ALL about it. Man, I haven’t even started my clinicals yet. We just had our CHOC hospital orientation today! My feet were totally killing me halfway into the tour of the hospital but it was amazing. I can’t wait!
I haven’t started my Maternal health rotation yet either. But dang, I’ve definitely learned a lot from the lectures. The birthing process is so intense. Well, I always knew that it was. But really studying the process step-by-step and knowing the nursing perspective of labor, delivery, and the mother-baby bonding afterward is crazy!! If anyone wants to learn about what I learned the past two weeks, I’ll be more than happy to share. (It’s good practice for me anyway :D)
I’m also taking a legal class. That’s not as fun. Especially since the class is on Mondays. At 7am. Yes, 7am. Yikes, praying that the Lord will sustain me this semester. Not just in staying on learning mode, but in standing up for Truth. This class is all about morals, ethics, controversial issues, and debates. It’s quite a challenge mentally and spiritually.

Whew, there is just so much that happened from the end of last semester up until now. So I would appreciate it if you’d pray with me! A lot occurred within a month that brought blessings and trials.
Pray for my personal growth. That my desire to know God more doesn’t deteriorate. More importantly, that I do not take what I learn and use it towards self-glorification (ex: boasting in the knowledge that I gain.) But that I seek Him wholeheartedly for the purpose of really knowing Him.Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the LORD. Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek them with their whole heart, who also do no wrong, but walk in his ways! You have commanded your precepts to be kept diligently. Oh that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes! Then I shall not be put to shame, having my eyes fixed on all your commandments. I will praise you with an upright heart, when I learn your righteous rules. —Psalm 119:1-7
Pray that I may be more bold. Ready to give the reason of the hope within me. …but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always be prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect… —1 Peter 3:15
That’s really all for now. Such a fail, this blog was supposed to be finished before February hit. Sike. I’m terrible with words. It takes me forever to write a post. Anyways, if YOU have a prayer request, let me know! :)
PS: Happy February.

“Bata.”

My dad always says this to my mom & I never thought much about it until tonight.

He would say this to her whenever she leaves the house to go to work, whenever she calls to say she’s on her way home from work, or whenever she just leaves the house in general. I don’t know, he just always says it whenever he’s ending the conversation with my mom.

Tonight, my mom left to go to a birthday party. As she was leaving…

Dad: “Drive safely. Bata.”
Mom: “Okay.”

I finally asked my dad about it & he didn’t even realize that he said it (LOL. Good one, dad.)  He said…

It’s to remind your mom. I don’t realize I say it sometimes. I mostly say it at night before I go to sleep after I pray. I say ‘bata’ to your mom to remind her to take good care of you guys in case I don’t wake up. She usually says ‘okay’ and then I can go to sleep knowing that you guys will be fine if I die while I’m sleeping.

“Aww.. dad!” LOL. Yes, that was my reaction. & his to mine? “Whatever..” HAHAH

Generally, my dad can be so… makulit.

My dad is the type that embarrasses me in public. The type that scares me in the middle of the night forcing me to sleep with the night light on. The type that still thinks he needs to remind me every night to brush my teeth, wash my face, and sleep at 9pm. And the type that decides to tell random people the real reason behind my nickname :(

But I love moments like these because it shows his fatherly side. What’s even better, is that it shows how blessed I am to have a godly man for a father. I know I complained a lot about him in the ways he disciplines me and my siblings. But I need to remember that he disciplines us the way that he does because he genuinely loves us (Proverbs 3:11-12, right? Heh.)

Man, I still have so much to learn, and knowing myself I tend to learn the hard way. But I’m blessed to have a dad that can handle me at my worst. And if you ask him how he does it (and ask for a serious answer -_-) he’ll say it is all because of His grace.

Woo. I’m praying that I’ll remember my dad’s unconditional love for me, even during our not-so-great moments. Oh man, the Lord is totally going to test me on this one. So if you’re reading this, pray for me and my dad! :)
